legend

Completed: 6

This is Aylestone Globe, an amphitheatre that has turf seating, a paved performance circle and a carved wooden structure. Amphitheatres like this have been built and used as outdoor performance spaces throughout history, for example in Ancient Greece.

The wooden structure of Aylestone Globe has been carved with words, drawings and poetry inspired by the natural surroundings, the nearby lock and local Roman remains.

Cycle Closer to Nature is supported by Arla's Kids Closer to Nature campaign and Sustrans. Search for this location on the National Cycle Network here.

BONUS QUESTION

Name the first fish mentioned in the poem.
Be very careful in this area to avoid the water's edge: canals are deep and very dangerous if you fall in! Take care in the amphitheatre not to act too enthusiastically and fall over the grassy seats or your adoring audience.

Risk overall: Medium. Keep your wits about you, anything could happen.
