Your mission...

Bubbles in the wind

Measure wind speed and direction by blowing bubbles, then report your findings online.

Mission Information

The wind we experience around us is extremely variable. It is greatly affected by buildings, trees and other obstacles.

By blowing bubbles and following their path you can measure the speed and direction of the wind around you.

Download the OPAL climate survey guide and workbook and see Activity 3 for full instructions.

Ready to submit your results? Go to - Complete the first page and Activity 3.

Your results will help scientists learn more about how our local environment affects the winds around us.

Bonus Question!
What word do we use to describe the variable winds created by buildings and obstacles?
Mission Risk: Medium

Medium. Keep your wits about you, anything could happen.

When following bubbles, keep well clear of roads and busy areas.

Take part in this challenge with a responsible friend.
