Your mission...

Save an apple!

Save an apple from going brown and yucky!

Mission Information

Uh oh! I sliced up an apple to eat as a snack, but I've forgotten about it. Now it's all brown and yucky! What can I do to stop this happening again? Why don't you investigate for me...

What you need:

  • Apple
  • Knife
  • Lemon juice
  • Water

How to:

Ask an adult for help using a knife.

  1. Cut the apple into quarters.
  2. Squeeze lemon juice onto two of the quarters. Make sure they're well covered.
  3. Run water quickly over the other two quarters.
  4. Leave the apple quarters for a few hours. Make sure you can remember which ones are covered in lemon juice and which ones were washed in water!

What's happened to the apple quarters? Are any of them brown?

Bonus Question!
Which apple quarters were the brownest: water or lemon?
Mission Risk: Low

Low. This should be easy but take care.
